A Shiny Pokémon is a Pokémon with different coloration to what is usual for its species. In Pokémon GO they are often released during special events or community days.
According to shiny research by the Silphroad, you have a 1 in 24.5 chance for a shiny when you catch a featured Pokémon during Pokémon GO community days. Without events, the shiny rate is only 1 in 450.
